Access SharePoint Document Library from One Drive for Business in Office 365

Office 365 Productivity Platform comes with 2 major Workloads for managing Documents:

SharePoint Team Sites are a great way to store Documents which are relevant to Teams like Sales, Admin, etc.

OneDrive for Business is the place where a User creates and stores documents relevant to him and which he occasionally shares with his colleagues within and outside the Company.

Till now, if a user had to work on his documents , he had to go to his One Drive Portal. And for accessing files stored on SharePoint Team Sites, he had to visit the SharePoint Portal and access the relevant Team Site.

Recently , the Office 365 folks have done some interesting integration work  between these 2 workloads . To know more ,  click here   

What this integration does for the User is that it speeds up the access to relevant file, whether stored in One Drive or in SharePoint Team Site . And since a lot of work for any user involves interacting with various documents , this simple integration adds up to a time saving of multiple minutes per day per user . Retain Mails of Departing Employees in Office 365

In a scenario where the requirements of compliance are increasing , the Organizations are expected to retain the Emails of departing users for a certain period of time. Now if Companies are forced to do it by retaining the User license , then the cost of licensing in Office 365 would increase.

Manage Windows 10 devices with Azure Cloud Active Directory

Many Organizations use “Domain Join”  and connect their PCs to Windows Server in order to manage them better . This is a great feature to manage the PCs in a Local Area Network (LAN). However , we are living in a Cloud Era where many applications are being hosted on the Cloud. The good news is that Windows 10 devices have built in support for Azure Cloud AD so that they directly authenticate to the Cloud based Azure AD .

Common Hybrid Identity for Cloud and On Premise Applications

With Cloud Services gaining greater acceptance , Companies are moving more applications  from On Premise to the Cloud. One issue this is creating is that it leads to creation of Multiple Identities for every user. The Primary Identity is on the Active Directory which is On Premise. In addition , for every Cloud Service used, an additional User Identity is created .

The good news is that we can have a Common Hybrid Identity for On Premise as well as all Cloud Apps . It is based on Azure .

All of us understand the importance of applying Software Patches on regular basis . We know that if we do not regularly apply Software Patches , we become easy targets for Virus and Cyber attacks. OneNote Immersive Reader

OneNote is probably the BEST Note taking app available across all platforms. Since it is a part of MS Office , chances are that you already own it. Partial Offline Sync of Cloud files in One Drive For Business

Office 365 Productivity Platform comes bundled with One Drive for Business which can store One Terabyte of Documents . You can also sync the One Drive For Business ( ODFB) with your PC . However , so far the issue was that the complete ODFB would sync offline. A common feedback from Customers was that it would be great if they could selectively sync the folders offline as they were not keen to have their full ODFB synced. This functionality was always present in the Consumer One Drive .

The good news is that the selective sync is  finally available on ODFB

Improve Team work with Office 365 Groups

Many Companies still use Emails with attachments for Team Collaboration . This is a very inefficient method to Collaborate. Office 365 Cloud Productivity Platform offers multiple ways to Collaborate . Some of the tools are Yammer , SharePoint , OneDrive for Business , Skype for Business.

There is one more method available for Team Collaboration. Its called Office 365 Groups . And the best part is that it is available within Outlook  or can also be used with Outlook Web Access.
